AIRS pays tribute to all those that have served America in the military … THANK YOU to each and every one of you.

Today is Veteran’s Day – this holiday was originally set aside by Congress as Armistice Day (Remembrance Day) to commemorate the return of peace in 1918 on the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” when Germany’s cease-fire armistice took effect ending WWI. In 1954 Congress felt that the name Veteran’s Day better honored all of the people who had risked their lives serving in the military.

We still focus on honoring America’s Veterans in 2011; so it is only fit that this year on 11/11/11, the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the eleventh year of this century, we highlight a new job search engine focused on identifying and aggregating veteran-committed job openings.

The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs partnered with Google using Google Custom Search technology to create the Veteran’s Job Bank powered by theNational Resource Directory (NRD). This job search engine crawls the internet to find job postings from a variety of websites and group them together at one site, thus allowing military veterans to more easily connect with employment opportunities.

If you are a Veteran, and want to search for a job, visit the Veterans Job Bank.

As an employer, if you want to ensure that your job postings appears in the Veterans Job Bank add the appropriate JobPosting Markup to your job posting. By using the JobPosting Markup from Schema.org your posting will appear in the Veterans Job Bank for FREE. You can also show your support of the initiative to help military veterans find work by adding a veteran-committed jobs search box to your website.
