$20 an hour – Part-time, Temporary, Contract

6 month temporary-contract assignment, 20 hrs per week

The Cal Alumni Association is seeking a human resources assistant that is responsible for providing complex administrative support to our Human Resources department. If you’ve liked working in a small company and truly enjoy wearing many hats, this might be the job for you. In collaboration with the Senior Director, Human Resources, the responsibilities include but are not limited to administering HR processes and programs such as HRIS, employee benefits, recruiting, on/off boarding, compliance and risk management.

SUPERVISION: Reports to the Senior Director, Human Resources

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Recruiting : In coordination with the HR Director and hiring managers, support recruiting efforts and facilitate the recruiting process including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, and communications, processing background and fingerprinting investigations, and reference checks.

Compliance : Maintains and updates personnel records in Human Resource Information System (Zenefits) and in paper-personnel files. Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. In compliance with audit requirements, ensure all documents are filled out completely and all signature approvals are included.

HR Systems Support: Research and recommend web-based employee performance review systems; assist with implementation.

HR Administration: Assist with the documentation and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; convert existing policies from MS Word to Google docs.

Reporting : Produce standard and ad hoc reports, metrics and analysis.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree

At least 1-2 years recruiting and/or human resources field experience.

AIRS Certified with 1+ years of recruiting experience.

Working knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.

Working knowledge of federal and California payroll and employment laws.

Proven ability to work with confidential information and act with discretion and diplomacy in all matters. Professional demeanor and conduct are a must.

Advanced-level computer skills using word processing, e-mail, calendar, database, project management, presentation and spreadsheet software applications using MS Office suite and Google applications. Knowledge and use of basic HTML coding.

Experience using HRIS and recruiting software packages, and ability to produce reports.

Strong analytical abilities; the ability to create, improve and document processes. Must have excellent attention to detail and be highly organized.

Good written, prioritization, interpersonal and public speaking/presentation skills.

Must submit to and pass Consumer Report Investigation and FBI/DOJ fingerprint background checks.

Must possess a valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record.

Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 15 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

PHR and/or CERS Certification; degree in Human Resources.

Experience using ADP.

Knowledge and familiarity of the University of California, Berkeley.

Pay Rate and hours : This position is classified as a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position, working 20 hrs per week. This is a temporary contract assignment from 7/1/2016 – 12/22/2016. Pay range will be between $20-22 hr. We have a friendly, relaxed but professional environment, and we pride ourselves on our team approach.
